How Qiy Turns the World Upside Down

Qiy developed a blueprint of a virtual network layer on top of the internet. Controllers, processors and users of personal and/or behavioural data that have a legitimate interest in processing or accessing such data can connect to this layer.

All connected users can exchange data with other connected users. However, the individual whose data is concerned or who generated the data, is in control through one or more dedicated apps. allowing them to grant connected organisations access to their personal or behavioural data, for a period chosen by the individual.

Only users with a legitimate interest can connect to the virtual network layer. There is a single source of truth: all data that is exchanged within the virtual layer is either validated by the authentic source or or can be verified at the authentic source. Any data controller, processor and app which respects the Qiy Trust Principles shall be admitted to the virtual network layer.

The Qiy Trust Framework...

... facilitates the electronic, trust-based exchange of personal data and data generated by the use of online services or connected devices, under the control of the person to whom the data relates.
... consists of a (virtual) network layer, a governance model, rules and binding commitments, and a set of technical standards to which data controllers, processors and individuals subscribe.
... access to the Qiy Trust Framework is controlled by the Qiy Trust Framework authority that is required to grant access on a fair, reasonable and nondiscriminatory basis.
... all parties operating on the basis of the Qiy Trust Framework have the technical possibility to access each other’s data.
... in the case of personal data and data generated by using online services or connected devices, the individual to whom the data relate determines which of the parties operating on the basis of the Qiy Trust Framework can access which data and which data can be used by which party, for which purpose(s) and for how long.
... in the case of special categories of personal data (i.e, data revealing racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, trade union membership, sexual orientation and so on), the granting of access may be subject to certain legal requirements which are beyond the control of the Qiy Trust Framework Authority.
