Media, publishing & marketing

The Qiy Foundation aims at developing a format for a Media Ecosystem project. Research has shown that consumers do not like to spend time on creating yet another account, leave personal data and accept general conditions while they have no influence on the substance. Media consumers also do not like the fact that their data are shared with third parties without their being able to influence them. The Media Ecosystem project aims at taking away this feeling of unease.
Objectives
The objective is to turn ‘media consumers’ into ‘happy media consumers’. This can be done by creating a bond of trust with them. We want to achieve that Consumers like to share their wishes and preferences with companies, because they don’t have to fear the invasion of their privacy anymore and because it would bring them convenience and benefit.
Means
The media consumer:
- becomes a building block, a point of contact, in the media ecosystem;
- operates his/her own ‘recommendation engine’ by feeding it with personal wishes, preferences and/or with location information (but not with personal data);
- can update his/her data himself/herself (customer-managed relationship).
Results
A first version (a ‘minimum viable product’) of a Media Ecosystem, in which consumers log in 1x (‘single sign-on’) on a network after which the consumer can, via his/her own switching point (Qiy Node), connect to all the media outlets of his/her choice and to channels of affiliated organisations of his/her choice. For this, consumers can use different devices (smartphone, tablet PC, laptop computer, desktop).
